So I did.
I made the decision to go to McDonals, a decision that has changed me scince. As i pulled into the parking lot i noticed some of the gang was there. A smile shown upon my worn out face, at least this night i would have company to my late night dinners.
I walked in and greeted the crew, they were more than overjoyous to see me. Teddy embraced me like a brother, and Toby, poor Toby almost cried. It had been that long scince we had been together.
After purchasing my meal, i sat at the tables in an attempt for a normal dinner, but this was to be the most abnormal dinner of my life. Suddenly Levi stood before us, a look of pure shock on his face...I will never forget those words, "Sam and Missy were in a wreck." Time seemed to slow, things happened at irregular speed.
People began to get frantic, but not I. No i know how to handle these situations. I finished my meal, and sat their calm. Trying to work out the best course of action. To fly out there and franticly check on them would make me stay up late that night, and I had to go on a trip the following day.
I exited McDonalds, hiding in the shadows, I climbed in my truck. Something told me what to do. I grabbed my phone and dialed with the dexterity that only a true hero could have. Sam picked up after a few rings.
"Hello" was what he said....Hello. Words from a distraught man. A man, who needed me. I summoned up the courage to answer.
"Heya man." I know, i have no clue what unearthly power gave me these words, (God)
I lightened the mood with a casual joke, (dissing me and him) it seemed to help. We small talked and i made sure he was ok. He was gonna make it. I had pulled him through.
Now Sam is a very nobel man, but he won't tell you the impact that call had on him. But I know. I know that had i not have called, things would be different. For i would not have called. But I did. In the face of fear, I stood and pulled a friend through.
No clapping....
I only did what any man would do.
I called.
